Agnes Lineberry

Mrs. Agnes Matthews Lineberry, 92, formerly of Staley, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Liberty Commons in Burlington.
She is survived by her children, Dianne Whitehead, of Snow Camp, NC, Lynn Lineberry and wife Donna of Staley, NC, and Jerry Lineberry and wife Millie of Forest City, NC, daughter-in-law Marcia Day, of Staley, NC, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, four sisters, Dot Glosson of Greensboro, NC, Peggy Matthews and husband Al Braxton of Lavonia, GA, Kate Watts of New Bern, NC, and Glenda Vickrey and husband Ronald of Myrtle Beach, SC, sister-in-law Frances C. Matthews of Liberty, NC, brother-in-law Marvin Lineberry and wife Vearl, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born September 12, 1924 in Surry County, NC, Mrs. Lineberry was the daughter of the late Howard Glenn and Laura Cook Matthews and was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Elbert Odell Lineberry, a son, Jack Lineberry, and a brother, Dick Matthews.
For more than 60 years, Mrs. Lineberry was a faithful member at Staley Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir and Women's Missionary Union. She retired as a floor supervisor from Glendale Hosiery in Siler City.
Mrs. Lineberry loved her flowers and kept a radiant garden of daylilies and elephant ears that bloomed wildly every spring. Grammy as she was better known by family and friends, also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and with her friends. She was the kind of person who would do anything to help someone in need. She always brought a smile to people's faces and will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Staley Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Jack Livingston. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
