Billie Jenks

Billie Daves Jenks, 86, of Shelby, passed away May 20, 2014, at Hospice at Wendover. Mrs. Jenks was born in Cleveland County on March 11, 1928, to the late Elijah and Mary Hoffman Daves. She worked for 30 years as a receptionist for Cleveland Community College.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean M. Jenks; three sisters, Winnie Lankford, Wona Holland and Lib Blanton; and a niece, Gail Adams.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Dean M. Jenks, Jr., and Jan of Shelby; two granddaughters, Jana Jenks and Jessalyn Jenks, both of Shelby; two sisters, Jewel Greene and Alice Daves, both of Shelby; niece, Maxine Edmondson of Shelby; great-niece, Holly Kale Bowman of Shelby; and a special caregiver, Gail Hollifield of Shelby.

Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Funeral service: 4 p.m. Thursday at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel
