Calvin Collins

Calvin R. Collins, age 71 of Cherryville, NC, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation.

He is survived by his children Robbie Collins (Lori) of Forest City, NC and Jason Collins of Forest City, NC. 6 Grandchildren 4 Step Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren. Two sisters Carolyn Johnson (Danny) of Shelby, NC and Judy Short (Phil) of Shelby, NC.

Born March 23, 1951 in Rutherford County, NC Russell was the son of the late Calvin and Katie Collins. He served honorably in the United States Army and was an on the road, over the road truck driver for many years. He was proceeded in death by his brother Floyd Collins and two sisters Sheila Nalley and Pam Williams.

Russell was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a bright light in this dark world. Everyone who met him got to hear at least one of his many stories of adventurers on the road while driving a truck or stories of the boys growing up. He touched many hearts with his kindness and made friends everywhere he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and love him.

A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
