Claud Edwin White

Mr. Claud Edwin White, 86 passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Peachtree Centre, Gaffney, SC.  Born on April 3, 1937, Ed was the son of the late P. Dean White and Mae Crawford White.  He was also predeceased by brothers Billy C. White, Bobby D. White, Sr., and Charles Heyward “Pete” White.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than 62 years, Linda Walker White, by sons, P. Dean White, Edwin W. White and girlfriend, Myra Gettys, and daughter, Heidi Dobbins and her husband, Joel, grandchildren Zach Dobbins and wife Carrie, Jacob Dobbins and wife Emily, and Madeline Humphries and husband, Josh.  Also great grandchildren Ellie, Hallie, Jonah, Hank, Baylee, and Josie.  He is also survived by sister-in-law, Margaret White and many nephews and nieces.  

Ed was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Gardner-Webb College and N.C. State University.  He also earned a Master’s degree from Appalachian State University. 

He had a more than three decade career in education and community college administration, beginning at Crest High School, and continuing at Gaston College, and Cleveland Community College, where he retired as Vice President of Academic Affairs. 

Ed was a lifelong member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, including a term as chairman and also served as a trustee.  He was a former member of Boiling Springs Lions Club, including more than one term as president.

Visitation will be held at Boiling Springs Baptist Church in the sanctuary on Monday, June 19 at 1:00 pm.  The service will follow at 2:00 pm.  Memorials may be made to Boiling Springs Baptist Church, 307 S. Main St Shelby, NC 28152.
