Danny Gene Hamrick

Mr. Danny Gene Hamrick, 87, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he was born on Sunday, June 21, 1936, the son of the late Jeff Dolphus and Mary Verleen Putnam Hamrick. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Janis LaRene Combs Hamrick who passed away in July 2016, three sisters, Shirley Morgan, Joyce Johnson, and Deloria Hamrick.

Mr. Hamrick is survived by three children, Wanda Rogers and husband George, Scott Hamrick and wife Danita all of Shelby, Cristal Barlow and husband Bob of Boiling Springs, NC, six grandchildren, Natalie Conner and husband Jonathan, Nathan Rogers and wife Haley, Dayne Hamrick, Laura Beth McFalls and husband Chance, Kevin Barlow, Patrick Barlow and wife Brooklyn, six great grandchildren, Kinsley Conner, Lawson Rogers, Brayden Conner, Braelyn Barlow, Abigail McFalls, and Braxton Barlow, one brother, Joe Donald Hamrick and wife Susan of Shelby, and one sister, Faye Dobbins of Shelby.

Mr. Hamrick served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and after 33 years of service, retired from Hoechst Celanese as a Machinist. He loved genealogy and was a member of Broad River Genealogical Society in Shelby, hardly ever missing a meeting. Mr. Hamrick was a member of Lafayette Street Church; he loved his church and all his church family. He was a Mason and was a member of Shelby Masonic Lodge #744, he was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Oasis Temple in Charlotte.

The family will receive friends Friday May 3, 2024, from 1-2pm at Lafayette Street Church.

A funeral service will be held 2pm following the visitation Friday May 3, 2024, at Lafayette Street Church officiated by Pastor Gus Navarro. Burial will immediately follow with military honors at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church beside his wife.

To honor the memory of Mr. Hamrick, pallbearers are as follows: Nathan Rogers, Jonathan Conner, Dayne Hamrick, Kevin Barlow, Patrick Barlow, Chance McFalls, Lawson Rogers, and Brayden Conner, serving as honorary pallbearer will be Braxton Barlow.
