David Philbeck

December 18, 1957 — August 22, 2016

Mr. Rickey Philbeck, 58, of Shelby, passed away August 22, 2016 in Georgia due to an accident.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patricia Diane Townsend Philbeck of the home, two children, Billy Daniel Huffman and wife Sandy of Wilmington, NC, and Glenn Ray Huffman and wife Linda of Connelly Springs, NC, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother, John Wesley Philbeck and wife Shirley of Polkville, NC, three sisters, Mary Whisnant of Polkville, NC, Brenda Beam and husband Derrill of Cherryville, NC, and Sybil Edwards and husband Steve of Polkville, NC.
Born December 18, 1957 in Cleveland County, Mr. Philbeck was the son of the late David Earl Philbeck and Edna Melton Philbeck and was preceded in death by his twin infant sons, Allen and Chris Philbeck.
Rickey worked at C&T Durham Trucking for more than 10 years. He enjoyed gardening, cutting grass, working on old cars, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by those that knew him.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2016 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Michael Austin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
