Doris Mccurry

November 12, 1925 — October 1, 2018

Mrs. Doris McCurry, age 92, of Shelby, NC, passed away Monday October 1, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her two children, Benjamin McCurry of Casar, NC, and Ellen Broome and husband Randy of Shelby, NC, two granddaughters, Laura and Kim McCurry, and a daughter-in- law, Thea McCurry.
Born November 12, 1925 in Cleveland County, Mrs. McCurry was the daughter of the late Carl and Una Roberts Hughes and was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clifford B. McCurry, a sister, Elizabeth Piercy, and two brothers, Clifford Hughes and wife Eula, and Dan Hughes and wife Jackie.
Mrs. McCurry was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed working at Lily Mills where she performed clerical duties. She loved cooking for her family, reading, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her granddaughters. Her joy was contagious, and she always brought a smile to the face of all she encountered. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel, conducted by Rev. Phil Hughes. A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:30pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset cemetery.
