Epifania Jimenez

   Epifania Jimenez was born on August 24, 1926 in Barahona, Dominican Republic. The daughter of the late Bernardino Sanchez and the late Clemencia Perez. She was the oldest child of 17 siblings. She joined in holy matrimony with the late Rafeal Moquete at the age of 18 and from this union they had two daughters; Ceida Terrero and Sadra A. Collado. At the end of this union she left the city to work as a primary housekeeper. During this time she was in a long term relationship with Bernanado Melo and from this union came her last and final child, a son Luis Melo.

 

   In 1959 she was hired to work as a main housekeeper to a prominent physician in Puerto Rico, where she worked for 4 years. After the conclusion of this employment she migrated to the United States residing in New York, NY. During this time she was married to the late Rafeal Jimenez, a union that lasted ( ) She gained employment as a seamstress and housekeeper until her health no longer allowed her to do so.

 

   Epifania spent the majority of her life living in New York before moving to Providence, Rhode Island for an extended period of time, then moved back to the Bronx, New York. During her last years of life she resided in Shelby, North Carolina with her granddaughter and family. She was a prayer warrior and a firm believer in Jesus Christ. Her most memorable saying was “ La Sangre de Cristo tienes poder”“ there is power in the blood of Christ”.

 

   Epifania is survived by 3 siblings; Melao Ruiz Perez, Silveria Ruiz Perez, Consepcion Sanchez, her 3 children; Ceida Terrero ( Consuladro (deceased) ), Sadra A. Collado ( Narciso (deceased) ), Luis Melo ( Sonia ), 12 grandchildren; Carmen Terrero, Dagoberto Terrero ( Dignora ), Darling Terrero ( Antonia ), Epifania Terrero ( Miguel ), Milfe Terrero, Yikaulis Terrero ( Johnny), Elizabeth Green ( Myles), Rosangely Jones ( Darron), Danyell A, Jaen ( Carlos ), Louis Melo-Marion, Marlene Melo, Taureen Melo. She had 30 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

 

   A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Luis Melo.  A visitation will be held from 11:00am - 12:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
