Gary John Kelly

April 20, 1961 — May 19, 2015

Mr. Gary John Kelly, age 54 of Lawndale, NC, went home to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his residence after battling several illnesses for years. A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, May 22, 2015 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel and other times at his mother's home. A graveside service will be held 3:30 pm at Sunset Cemetery following the visitation conducted by Rev. Christina Auch.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Kelly of Shelby, NC, a friend and caregiver, Sharon Cooke, and many friends and loving family. He is also survived by his aunts, Ulla Maybaum, and Ursula Muller, and an uncle, Hans-Georg Rathjen and wife Ilse, all of Germany.
Born April 20, 1961 in Charleston, SC, Mr. Kelly is the youngest son of Edith Rathjen Kelly and the late Brady Hugh Kelly, Sr. and was preceded in death by his brother, Brady Hugh Kelly, Jr., grandparents, John and Beatrice Kelly and Johann and Dora Rathjen, and an uncle, Ewald Rathjen. He worked as a brick, block, and rock mason for more than 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ascension Lutheran Church, 300 N. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28150.
