He was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather and a life-long adventurer. He was employed at George Arnold & Associates where he was an intellectual properties investigator and a former special agent with the N. C. State Bureau of Investigation. He was a member of the Nature Conservancy and a supporter of the Cleveland County Memorial Library. He also was a captain in the Army. He was preceded in death by his father, George Jacob Arnold, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Verna Dahlke Arnold of Ballwin, Mo.; son, George Arnold, IV of Shelby; two daughters, Kate Elsea of San Francisco, Calif. and Christy Mantooth of Cherryville; granddaughter, Marlee Rose Arnold of Shelby; two sisters, Carolyn Arnold-Marsh and husband Gene of Bailey, Colo. and Susan Johnstone and husband Malcolm of Westchester, Pa.; and former wife, Sandy Carpenter of Shelby.
