George Ward

November 5, 1933 — March 4, 2015

Mr. George Grayson Ward, age 81 of Shelby, NC, and Pelzer, SC, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Wendover Hospice House following a four month illness.
A native of Randolph County, being reared in the Quaker Community of what is now Trinity, he was the son of Roy Snow and Ruth Spencer Ward.
As a Corporal in the U.S. Army, Grayson served in combat in the Korean War. His career was in textiles and was employed as a buyer and seller rep at Phoenix of Anderson, Williamston, S.C. He volunteered and served on the Board of Cleveland Rutherford Kidney Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kellie Diane Ward of Kernersville. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kay Luckadoo Ward; a daughter, Amy Ronce and husband Tom of Irvine, CA, a son, Wes Spencer Ward and wife Sarah Beth of Greensboro, NC, three grandchildren, Taylor Ward of Raleigh, Ella Ward of Greensboro, and Holly Bard of Irvine, CA, and numerous sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A visitation will be held 4:00 - 5:30 PM Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Sechcrest Funeral Home in Archdale, NC, and from 2:00 - 3:30 PM Sunday at Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory Chapel.
