Helen D. Beaver

   Helen DeLozier Beaver, 89, of Pleasant Ridge Church Road, Shelby, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 18, 2024, at the home of her caretakers, son Eddie Morehead and wife Barbara in Shelby.  She was born in Cramerton, NC, to parents Joseph Edward DeLozier and Alfie Eugenia Black of Shelby, NC.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry Gene Beaver and her sister, Barbara DeLozier Morehead and husband Fritz “Rube” Morehead.

   Helen is survived by a brother, Jim DeLozier and wife Jackie of Camden, SC, a sister, Sarah Logan of Shelby; four sons, Billy Morehead and significant other, Jackie Crum of Camp Hill, PA, Eddie Morehead and wife Barbara of Shelby, Rick Beaver and wife Karen of Shelby, and Michael Beaver and wife Cindy of Waynesville, NC; twelve grandchildren, Angela Benevento and husband Jon of Hardeeville, SC, Carmen Henderson and husband Steve of Erie, PA, Kristen Alexander and husband Josh of Lewistown, PA, Allyson Smith and husband Travis of Rutherfordton, NC, Katie Mullinix and husband Josh of Fort Mill, SC, Jay Morehead and wife Bekgah of Raliegh, NC, Justin Morehead and wife Canaan of Gastonia, NC, Mandy Schmidt and husband Craig of Charlotte, NC, Jodi Wooten of Shelby, Michael Andrew Beaver and wife Kristen of Shelby, Corey Beaver and wife Krysten of Bryson City, NC, and Kiley Beaver of Oklahoma City, OK; twenty-eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; special couple, Patrick Logan and wife Tammy of Casar, NC, and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

   She graduated from Lattimore High School where she loved playing basketball.  She also enjoyed bowling, camping, reading, sewing, music, crocheting, and having a ceramics shop.  She worked for Bell South Hudson Hosiery, US Postal Service, JP Stevens and retired as Office Manager from Coca Cola Bottling Company in Shelby.  She was a great cook who loved cooking for her friends, family and as a volunteer at the Shelby Life Enrichment Center.

   Helen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, kindness, generosity, and a steadfast dedication to her family and her church family.  A devoted Christian and member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Velda Holbrook Sunday School Class, Baptist Women, Keep in Touch, Pleasanteers, Senior Adult Bible Study, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Food Pantry Ministry, and served as a cook for many years in the FLB Kitchen.  She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

   The family would like to thank all the wonderful, special friends who have helped and supported us through these last few years and the doctors and nurses who cared for her.  We also want to express our gratitude to Hospice for “Walking The Path” with us.

   The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Sanctuary.  At 2:00pm there will be a memorial service to celebrate a life well-lived with the Rev. Derek Greene and Dr. Eric Davis officiating.
