Helen Irene McFarland Lane

   Mrs. Helen Irene McFarland Lane, age 91 of Shelby, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Wendover Hospice in Shelby.

   She is survived by her grandson, Dylan Stone of Shelby, NC, her sisters, Mildred Blanton, Jewel Greene, and Frances Costner (Michael), all of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

   Born June 10, 1932, in Rutherford County, NC, Helen was the daughter of the late Edward McFarland and Irene Jackson McFarland and proceeded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Clyde “Tite” Lane, a daughter, Christie Lane Stone, and her siblings, William McFarland, Lillian Ericson, Ophelia Underhill, Leila Costner, Etta Barber, and Marie Collins.

   Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She enjoyed working in the yard, crossword puzzles, watching western movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

   A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Cleveland Funeral Services in Shelby.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby NC 28150.
