Joyce Marie Causby

   Mrs. Joyce Marie Causby, age 93 of Shelby, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

   She is survived by her children, Michael Causby (Anita) of Mooresboro, NC, Diane Williams of Bostic, NC, and Jerry Causby (Virginia) of Shelby, NC, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

   Born February 25, 1930, in Rutherford County, NC, Joyce was the daughter of the late Oscar Dodson and Maddie Bell Rhodes Dodson, and was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Causby, a son, Kenneth Causby, a daughter, Barbara Weatherford, a granddaughter, Renee Weatherford, a great grandson, Aaron Causby, and seven siblings. 

   Joyce was a lifelong member of Walls Baptist Church where she sung in the choir and taught Sunday school.  She worked many different jobs including In Home Daycare, a cook at Smiths Drug in Forest City and Haven in the Hills in Golden Valley.  Joyce’s favorite job was being Augustus’s “side kick” with Causby’s Towing.  She also loved traveling, visiting locations like Gatlinburg, TN. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be dearly missed but not forgotten by all that knew her. 

   A visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00pm Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Cleveland Funeral Services.  A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Walls Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jerry Causby.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
