Kenneth "Kenny" Blanton Jr.

   Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” Hewitt Blanton Jr., age 77 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

  He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Judyth Pepper Blanton of the home, his children, Michael Blanton of Bourne, MA, Christopher Blanton of Conover, NC, Kenneth Blanton III of Lattimore, NC, and Andrew Blanton and wife Brooke of Dallas, GA, a sister, Jane Blanton Moor of Smyrna, DE, and 7 grandchildren, Alan Gossett, Kayla O’Boyle, Hannah Blanton, CJ Blanton, Kai Blanton, Drew Blanton, and Carter Blanton and 1 great granddaughter Parklynn O’Boyle, and multiple stepchildren and step grandchildren. Kenny is also survived by a niece and 2 nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews.  

  Born October 12, 1945, in Cleveland County, NC, Kenny was the son of the late Kenneth Hewitt Blanton Sr. and Elizabeth Cabaniss Blanton.  He was a cherished member of Lattimore Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.  Kenny was a member of the Shelby Amateur Radio Club.  Kenny spent countless hours with his friends at Harrill Tires Services in Shelby.  After graduating Shelby High School he attended Gardner-Webb College in 1970 with an Associate of Arts degree and in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree. 

  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, October 4th at Lattimore Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Buddy Moorehead.  A visitation will be held from 1:30pm -2:30pm prior to the service at the church.
