Larry Anton LaRousa

Mr. Larry Anton LaRousa, age 78 of Cherryville, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Nancy Granger LaRousa of the home, his two sons, Kevin LaRousa (Donya) of Harrisburg, NC, and Steven LaRousa of Hollis, NC, five step-children, Tracy Stonehouse of Michigan, Damon Granger (Angela) of Traverse City, MI, Melissa Markel (Kyle) of Rochester Hills, MI, Celia Granger (Ricky) of Owosso, MI, and Ryan Granger (Jodi) of Flushing, MI, sixteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Vardon (Michael) of Clarkston, MI, and Cheryl Groves (Tom) of Livonia, MI, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Born July 9, 1945, in Pontiac, Michigan, Larry was the son of the late Anton Larry LaRousa and Eleanor McArthur and was preceded in death by a brother, George Thayer.

Larry's journey began at St. Michaels High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. He was a proud member of the school's football, baseball, and basketball teams, showcasing his dedication, leadership, and unwavering determination.

After graduating, Larry answered the call to serve his country as a proud Marine, bravely defending freedom's cause during the Vietnam War. His selfless service and sacrifice embodied the true spirit of patriotism and honor.

Upon his return, Larry continued his journey of service, joining the workforce at General Motors, where he applied the same principles of discipline and excellence that defined his military service. His commitment to his work and his colleagues earned him the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Larry's faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he found great comfort and strength in his devotion to the Catholic Church. As a faithful parishioner of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, he found solace in the teachings of his faith and the fellowship of his fellow worshippers.

Outside of his professional and spiritual pursuits, Larry was a man of many passions. He found joy and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was crafting beautiful pieces of woodwork in his workshop, golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling and even playing softball.  He cherished the time with Friends, often gathering with them to play cornhole or boating on the lake.

Above all else, Larry was a devoted family man who cherished the moments spent with his loved ones. His love knew no bounds, and his presence illuminated the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Larry's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life. While we mourn his loss, we take comfort in the knowledge that he has found eternal peace in the loving embrace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
