Madeline York Kendrick

Mrs. Madeline Daves York Kendrick, 92, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Fair Haven Home of Bostic. She is survived by her son, Phillip M. York (Cathy) of Ellenboro, grandchildren Megan York Clapper (Gabe) of Seattle, WA and Phillip Adgus "Gus" York (Amber) of Mooresboro, and great granddaughter Never York. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Judith Duncan (Judy) York of Ellenboro, NC, and grandson, Stephen Wayne (Steve) York (Missy) of Mooresboro, NC, and great granddaughters Katie and Grace York. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bridges (Little Dot) York of Tryon, NC, and four nieces: Linda York Holbert (Bob) of Tryon, NC, Dale York Edwards (Danny) of Tryon, NC, Sandra (Sandy) Lovelace Reese (John) of Weaverville, NC, and Christine Daves Avant of Shelby, NC.

She is survived by stepson Skip Kendrick (Kathy) of Lanett, Alabama, grandson Shawn Kendrick (Leah) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, grandson Lantz (Tina) Kendrick of Northport, Alabama, and great grandchildren Zach, Peyton, and Parker Kendrick. She is survived by stepson Steven Kendrick (Sheila) of Knoxville, Tennessee, granddaughter Cristi Adams (Shane) of Sylacauga, Alabama, great grandchildren Reed and Ethan Adams, and great grandchildren Eli and Ryan Gale Adams. She is survived by grandson Steve Kendrick (Neva) of Dothan, Alabama and great grandson Steven. She is survived by granddaughter Kandy Groover (Clint) of Dothan, Alabama, and great grandchildren Avery and Colin Groover. She is survived by grandson Josh Murphy (Rica) of Iwakuni, Japan, great grandchild, Noya.

Born November 29, 1924 in Rutherford County, Madeline was the daughter of the late Clarence and Eva Bridges Daves and was preceded in death by her husbands, Merrill York and Arthur Kendrick, a son, Wayne York, a brother, Melvin Daves and a sister, Sara Frances McKnight.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Fair Haven of Bostic for the loving care that they provided Madeline during her stay. Madeline's family would also like to thank the Race Path Baptist Church family for their support and kindness.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Race Path Baptist Church, 1171 Race Path Church Road, Ellenboro, NC, conducted by Rev. Randall Cooper. A visitation will be held at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
