Margaret Greene

HUNTERSVILLE - Margaret Webb Greene, 97, formerly of Shelby, passed away on October 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 14, 1919, to the late Martin and Melinda Hamrick Webb. Her mother died when she was seven days old. She was lovingly raised by the late John and Mary Webb Mode. Margaret was also predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Erastus "Rass" F. Greene, her son, John Kenneth (Betty), her son-in-law R. E. "Gene" Crawford, and her siblings: brothers, Yates Webb and Gordon Mode; sisters, Beatrice Allen, Selma Shuford, Verna Mae Gold and Gladys Green.
A devoted lifetime member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Margaret is survived by her loving daughter, Helen G. Crawford of Charlotte, NC, and sons, E. F. "Shorty" Greene, Jr (Judy) of Elm City, NC, and Steve E. Greene (Kathy) of LKG, Henrico, NC. Also surviving "Maw Maw" are 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at Beaver Dam Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Greene will be six of her grandsons Brian Greene, John K. Greene, Steve "Chip" Greene II, Kelly Grigg, Spence Grigg and Michael "Mike" Greene.

Granddaughters Kristie, Kathy, Hallie, Adele and Nickie have lovingly made sure that "Maw Maw" was never alone. Special thanks to the staff at Olde Knox Commons in Huntersville, where Margaret received outstanding care for the past five years.
