Marvin Fortenberry

Mr. Marvin William Fortenberry, 65 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Wendover Hospice.
He is survived by his two sons, David Fortenberry and wife Crystal of Shelby, NC, and Keith Earls and wife Ivey of Shelby, NC, three grandchildren, Caitlyn Fortenberry, Liberty Fortenberry, and Elizabeth Earls, three step grandchildren, Brooke Willis, Brittany Willis, and Emily Willis, and three sisters, Jeanette Costner of Greenville, SC, Judy Ross and husband Claude of Fallston, NC, and Faye Kidd of Shelby, NC.
Born November 4, 1951 in Cleveland County, Mr. Fortenberry was the son of the late Clevie Emerson and Ruby Mae Roberts Fortenberry and was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Catherine Evans Earls Fortenberry.
Marvin was a devoted member of Lavonia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed his lifelong profession as a paint contractor. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Rev. David Slatton and Rev. Robert Lane. A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
