Miriam Hayes

Miriam Hammett Hayes, 91, a native of Gaffney, S.C., passed away Sunday, April 13, 20143 at Greer Memorial Hospital in Greer, S.C.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Royce T. Hayes, Sr.; her parents, Grady Hammett and Eula Robbs Hammett; and two sisters, Ellen Hayes and Francis Martin.

Mrs. Hayes, a homemaker, and Royce lived in the Beaver Dam Community near Shelby most of their lives. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

She was living with her oldest grandson in Taylors, S.C., in March when she fell and broke her hip. She passed away Sunday evening from complications while in rehabilitation.

She is survived by her son, Royce Thomas Hayes, Jr., "Tommy" and his wife Heather of Manassas, Va.; grandsons, Bhrett Hayes and his wife Rachell of Taylors, S.C., and Branden Hayes of Robinsville; great-grandsons, Ethan, Justen and Eli Hayes; and sisters, Marie Parhan, Millie Spake, Carolyn Swaney, Ozelle Mauney and Margaret Quinn.

Visitation: The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service the church.

Funeral service: 12 p.m. Wednesday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church

Burial: Will be in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery
