Percy Cox

Ray passed away January 30, 2017 at Peak Resources, Shelby at the age of 81. He was born in Eden, NC and graduated from Morehead High School. Ray played football for the University of Tennessee and went on to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree from Campbell University.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Oscar and Martha Campbell Cox, two sisters, a brother and a son, Keith A. Cox.
Ray is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie Holland Cox of the home, a son, Michael (Sharon) Cox of Merritt Island, FL, four grandchildren, Garrett (Courtney) Cox, Joe Cox, Kristin Cox, and Rebekah Cox, and a sister, Brenda Cox of Greensboro, NC.
Ray served his country for 28 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Loadmaster retiring in 1986 as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed serving in the music ministry, Sunday School, and deacon fellowship at Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services. A visitation will be held from 11:30 - 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 123 Beaver Dam Church Road, Shelby NC 28152 or to a memorial of one's choice.
