Ruth Spurling

Mrs. Ruth Self Spurling, 86 of Shelby, passed away November 27, 2017 at her residence.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Bryant Sisk and wife Diane Chrisley of Seneca, SC, three grandchildren, Danyell Belcher of Polkville, NC, Elizabeth Sisk of Belton, SC, and Tristan Sisk Harvey and husband Travis of Travelers Rest, SC, four great grandchildren, Karyn Sullens, Bryant Sullens, Zanna White, and Easton Harvey, a great great granddaughter, Aubrey Sullens, and two brothers, Lloyd Self of Shelby, NC, and Cecil Self and wife Gladys of Lawndale, NC.
Born August 6, 1931 in Rutherford County, Mrs. Spurling was the daughter of the late Roy and Lottie Waters Self and was preceded in death by her husband, Ivey Lloyd Spurling and a great granddaughter, Lillian Pearson.
Ruth was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed adult art working with colored pencils, collecting coins, and spending time with her family and friends. Ruth was the kind of person that would put a smile on your face and she will be dearly missed by those that knew her.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
