Ruth Marie Lovelace

Ruth Marie McMurry Lovelace, age 98 of Shelby, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 20, 2022.

She is survived by her children, Antionne Lovelace “Ann” Wesson and husband Dan of Shelby, NC, and LaMoine Beau Lovelace and wife Donna of Hendersonville, NC, four grandchildren, Allen Wesson and wife Jennifer of Shelby, NC, Apryl Tessener and husband Ricky Jr. of Shelby NC, Olivia Teeple and husband Jon of Hendersonville, NC, and Luke Lovelace and wife Krysta of Hendersonville, NC, six great grandchildren, Kane Williams, Kaela Williams, Bree Tessener, Jake Tessener, Jonah Teeple, and Lillian Lovelace, and a great great grandson, Finn Williams.

Born May 12, 1923 in Cleveland County, Ruth was the daughter of the late Joe Palmer McMurry and Ethel Blanton McMurry and was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Keever Lovelace, four brothers, Palmer McMurry Jr., Harrill McMurry, Tom McMurry, and David McMurry, and a sister, Murrell Bridges.

Ruth was a faithful member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she was the oldest member and a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class.  Ruth also worked in the church nursery for many years.  Ruth worked and retired from J.P. Stevens where she worked as a cloth inspector.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  Ruth loved the Atlanta Braves baseball team and college basketball.  Ruth enjoyed reading but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 11:30am – 12:30 pm, Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church.  Funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:30pm conducted by Rev. Tom Runyon.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Tommy and Regina Latham for the loving care and transportation they provided following church services to her home.  They would also like to thank the Beaver Dam Baptist Church family for their loving care and prayers for her. Thank you for the excellent care given by Atrium Health in Shelby. Especially the 5th and 3rd floor staff.
