Sylvia Robertson

SHELBY - Sylvia Sue Ransom Robertson, age 83, passed away peacefully Friday, June 1, 2018 at home surrounded by her five children, husband, and little dog.

Born October 8, 1934 in Tallassee, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Hilda Ballard McClendon, H.O. "Tom" McClendon and Willie Albert Ransom.

Sylvia graduated from University of Alabama with a Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Chemistry. She worked as a Registered Dietician for Beams Nursing Home for 25 years.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband John Ashley Robertson; five children, John Ashley Robertson Jr. of Macclesfield, Lisa Faye English and husband John of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, David Gregg Robertson of Clover, South Carolina, Laura Alice Forest and husband Dan of Raleigh, Suanne Blanton and husband Jody of Shelby; one sister, Tommie Dean Coan of Tallassee, Alabama. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren (Kristan, Tim, Jake, Ben, Nathanial, Nick, Amanda, Haley, Max, David, Sean, Reid, and Olivia) and three great-grandchildren (Frankie, Theo and Dahlia).

Sue and John were married for 59 ½ years, despite the fact that Sue went to Alabama and John went to Auburn. They supported each other's teams except on the day they played each other, then it was every man for himself. She loved Faith, Family, her dog, flowers and dancing (in that order).

A funeral service will be conducted 12:00pm noon Friday, June 8, 2018 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Rick Bowling officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until noon Friday, June 9, 2018 prior to the service at the funeral home.
