Mrs. Vera Lee Rainey Lanier, 94, of Shelby NC, passed away on October 13, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Born in Cleveland County on September 3, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William J. Rainey and Mamie Gorman Rainey.
She was retired from Goforth Industries and a member of Aldersgate UMC. She was also a member of AUMC Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women, and a former member of the Cleveland County Choral Society. She graduated Class of 1945 from Shelby High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband V.Q. Lanier, an infant brother, a nephew, and three sisters, Cecile R. Browning, Aileen R. Brooks, and Mayo R. Younts.
She is survived by her son, Terry Lanier and wife Kathy of Shelby, two grandchildren, Alex Lanier and wife Kellie of Leland NC, Whitney Harrison and husband Trent of Wilmington NC, one great grandson, Zakary Lanier, a niece, Melanie McDaniel, two nephews, Ronnie Brooks and wife Glenda, Bill Browning and wife Becky, and their children and grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park with Rev. Carrie Carpenter on Friday at 2pm.
