Walter Crotts

Mr. Walter Gene Crotts, age 84 of Shelby, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He is survived by his children, Denise Jones of Shelby, NC, and Cathy C.
Romines and husband Russell of Apex, NC, two grandchildren, Christopher Jones and wife Ashley of Kings Mountain, NC, and Jason Romines and wife Blaire of Raleigh, NC, a great grandson, Cooper Romines, a brother, Ralph Floyd Crotts and wife Jean of Shelby, NC a sister, Betty Crotts Ledford of Shelby, NC, a sister-in-law, Willena Clary of Shelby, NC, and a special Nephew, David Clary and wife Lisa and their daughter Madison of Shelby, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
Born July 12, 1931 in Cleveland County, Mr. Crotts was the son of the late Walter Cornelius Crotts and Nellie Grace Jenkins Crotts and was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Geraldine "Jerri" Clary Crotts and a brother-in-law, Walter Lackey Ledford.
Mr. Crotts was an avid gardener and loved sharing what he grew. He loved hunting, fishing, and all outdoor activities. Walter was a lifelong member of Sandy Plains Baptist church where he served as an usher. Mr. Crotts served in the United States Air Force and later worked and retired from Dover Textiles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by those that knew him.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
