Herman "Bud" Hammitt

Shelby, North Carolina

Mr. Herman (Bud) Hammitt, age 81, passed away Tuesday December 7, 2021 at Atrium Healthcare-Cleveland.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Jane Poston Hammitt of the home; two sons, Jeff Hammitt and wife Susan of Shelby, and Doug Hammitt and wife Kathy of Simpsonville, SC; six grandchildren, Mark, Kevin, Brittany, Ty, Megan, and Madeline; two great grandchildren, Ryland and Olivia; one brother, Ned Hammitt and wife Terry of Denver, NC.

Born in Gaston County, NC on October 19, 1940, he was the son of the late Clyde Rufus and Alice Carpenter Hammitt. He was also preceded in death by one sister Frances Heavner from Cherryville.

He loved making birdhouses and bird feeders. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Carolina Tarheels and also enjoyed working in the yard.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday 2pm December 10, 2021 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 1pm at the church. Officiating Minister will be Rev. Tom Runyon.
