Merle Lackey

Merle Lackey, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2022 at Wendover Hospice House, Shelby.

She was born June 15, 1935, in Rutherford County.  She is preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters and survived by one brother, Horace Robbins and her granddaughter, Nicole Allison, whom she loved dearly.  She is survived by three daughters, Vanessa Bridges, Kathy Mull, and Phyllis Hudgins, one grandson, Ron Goode, and two great grandchildren.

She attended Shelby First Church – The Nazarene.  A special thank you to Wendover Hospice House in Shelby for their compassionate and excellent care for our mother during her final days.

A graveside service will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, at 11:00am with Pastor Jim Davis officiating and her nephew Sonny Dycus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Shelby First Church – The Nazarene, 1205 Charles Road, Shelby NC 28152.
