Robert Pilkey

Robert Wayne Pilkey, age 70 of Grover, NC, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Atrium Health in Shelby.

He is survived by his children, Jarrod Pilkey of Grover, NC, and Kristin Boyd and husband Robert of Shelby, NC, a grandson, Garett Carver of Shelby, NC, a sister, Vicky Pilkey Herrington and husband Andy of Loris, SC, and his cat, “Cha-Cha”.

Born May 9, 1949 in Gaston County, Wayne was the son of the late Roy and Mary Herron Pilkey and was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Vicki Lorraine Harris Pilkey,

Wayne met his beloved wife in high school and later married in 1970.  He worked as a pipe fitter by trade and enjoyed his retirement while traveling with his wife, selling their handmade crafts. Wayne was a baptized Jehovah’s Witness and although had many physical limitations, was very active in demonstrating his love to Jehovah and sharing his beliefs with others. He was a kind man who always put others first and saw the goodness in everyone.  Wayne was always positive and known for his story telling, great since of humor, his hardy laugh, and always had a smile on his face.  Wayne was the kind of person that never met a stranger and loved everyone he met.  He especially loved spending time with his family and friends and will be truly missed by those that knew him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2020 at Cleveland Funeral Services.  Service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Kingdom Hall-Jehovah’s Witness.
