A memorial service exalting Jesus and celebrating the life of Sara Blanton Anthony will be held Saturday, August 21, 11 a.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Visitation of the family will occur at 10 a.m., prior to the service.
Sara was 90 years old and transitioned peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 9, surrounded by family members.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Larry Anthony; her children, Mike Stamey, Kay Gregory (Randall), Joy Justice (Chuck) and Brad Stamey (Lori); daughter-in-law Katherine; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Born June 12, 1931 in Cleveland County, Sara was the daughter of the late John A. Blanton and Analda Wilson Blanton, and was preceded in death by 8 siblings and a stepdaughter, Deana Phillips.
By God’s grace, Sara surrendered her life to Jesus at an early age. Although she expressed her faith in many ways, the Lord gifted her with musical talents and an amazing voice. She directed multiple choirs and sang numerous solos. Many people remember not only the accuracy of her pitch, but the expression of the lyrics, coming from a sincere and heart-felt relationship with God.
She cherished family and enjoyed going deep in conversation with others; always full of questions. She genuinely cared, and those she talked with knew it.
The family wishes to express great appreciation to the staff of the Hospice House in Cleveland County for the love, care, and support shown to Sara and the family during the last 10 months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 or to the International Mission Board of the SBC, 3806 Monument Ave, Richmond, VA 23230.
