Dean Vinson

Dean Vinson

Manager

Dean Vinson is the Manager and Funeral Director for Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory. He started his career in 2011 as a manager and funeral director at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC and became affiliated with Cleveland Funeral Services in 2014. Dean is married to Sebrina Vinson and together have 4 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and a faithful canine companion, Loki. He enjoys camping, skiing, fishing, and attending Nascar races. 

Dean graduated from Ft. Knox High in 1984 and joined the military right after graduation. He served and retired from the 82nd Airborne Division where he was deployed in Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield, and Afghanistan. Dean was a member of the of the Wallace Volunteer Fire Department where he won the firefighter of the year in 2013. He later became a volunteer firefighter at Bethlehem Fire Department in Kings Mountain. Dean graduated from Fayetteville Technical Community College receiving his diploma in Funeral Service Education. Dean attends Landmark Baptist Church.


Trey Whisnant

Trey Whisnant

Funeral Director

Trey Whisnant came to Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory in 2017 after enjoying a career serving others as a paramedic for over a decade. He is married to Haley Whisnant, and together they have 2 beautiful children, Cort and Scout. Trey and his family attend Aldersgate United Methodist Church. 

He obtained his diploma in Funeral Service Education from Fayetteville Technical Community College and before that received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Gardner-Webb University. He is currently attending the Funeral Sciences program at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Trey also served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1996 until 2004. 



Sierra Herndon

Office Administrator

Sierra started working with Cleveland Funeral Services in 2019 as an Administrative Assistant. Losing her grandmother made her want to help families going through the funeral planning process. She is married to Kyle a Paramedic and Instructor for Cleveland County. She has a step-daughter Kyli. Sierra enjoys spending time with her family, and creative writing. 

Athena

Athena

Therapy Dog in Training

Athena was adopted from the Gaston County Animal Shelter in 2018. She recently joined the Cleveland Funeral Services staff in 2019 after completing her obedience training at The Dog Knowledge in Charlotte, NC. She is looking forward to starting classes this spring to further her education and obtain her Therapy Dog certification. When Athena isn’t enjoying belly rubs at the funeral home she is the family pet of the Whisnant household where she enjoys backpacking trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains. 





Allen & Judy Harp

Allen Harp:

Allen started with Cleveland Funeral Services in 1997. He is married to Judy Harp and shares two sons with her and a granddaughter. He joined the Navy in 1941, six days after graduating high school at the age of 17. Allen served one tour in the U.S. Navy and then proceeded to attend college. He worked as an Insurance Claims Adjuster for 30 years before retiring. Allen enjoys helping and working with families. 

 

 

Judy Harp:

Judy started with Cleveland Funeral Services in 2014. She is married to Allen Harp, and together they have two sons and a granddaughter. Judy is currently a hairdresser at Trendsetters Salon.

 



 


Bob Ingle

Bob Ingle

Funeral Service Attendant

Mr. Ingle joined the Cleveland Funeral Services family back in 2000. He is an active member of Zion Baptist Church. He served in the Korean war from 1951-1955. He played four different sports in school, baseball, basketball, softball and football and officiated games and umpire/refereed for over 30 years. He retired from the Post Office in 1994. He is blessed with a big family. He has four children, three boys and one girl. He has 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. On his down time, he enjoys going to the Pancake House every Wednesday with his high school friends. 

 



Jonathan Poston

Jonathan Poston

Funeral Service Attendant

Jonathan recently started with Cleveland Funeral Services. He graduated from Burns High School in 2003. Jonathan has been married to his wife Suzanne since 2014 and together they have three wonderful daughters, Emily, Harper, and Stella. He and his family attend Engage at First Wesleyan in Kings Mountain, NC. Jonathan is very active in the men’s group at Engage. When not working Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.

Mike Chapman

Mike Chapman

Funeral Service Attendant

Mike joined the Cleveland Funeral Services family in 2019. He was raised in Golden Valley, Rutherford. Mike joined the Army right out of high school in 1975 and continued until 1977. Afterwards, he started college at Isothermal where he earned his Criminal Justice degree. In 1979, he became a Deputy Sheriff. In 1983-2001 he did Highway Patrol. He retired from Atrium Health Cleveland from head of the hospital police in 2017 after working there 11 years. Mr. Chapman was in Law Enforcement for a total of 41 years.  He is currently a member of Eastside Baptist Church, but his family church is Mount Zion.  


Don Toney

Don Toney

Funeral Service Attendant

Mr. Toney started with Cleveland Funeral Services in 2019. He is happily married to his wife, Sarah. Together they share three children, two boys and a girl, and one granddaughter. Sadly, they lost one of their son’s in a car accident a few years back. Mr. Toney retired in 2012 from his store, Toney’s Gun Shop. He owned it for 38 years. He is a member of Crestview Baptist Church going on 23 years now. In his free time, he and his wife enjoy traveling with their church group to volunteer. During the holidays, they work to assist the Food Ministry for Rutherford County.  Mr. Toney has always loved to sing and sings in the choir at his church. He has been a part of two singing groups for 18 years now. Don enjoys going to nursing homes to sing for local residents.
